How to Choose and Install Gym Rubber Flooring Mats?

The rubber floor mat is made of rubber granules, which are cut from used tires and shoes scraps and then pressed at high temperature. With its good performance on wear-resistance, long-life, flexibility, and shock absorption, rubber mats are often used in indoor gyms, outdoor playgrounds and plazas, and even in private courtyard sometimes.

Rubber mats can be classified into two types, high density and normal density.

The high-density rubber mats have finer grains and a smoother surface, and the color is black and gray as the base color, with colored EPDM flecks. Indoor gyms or fitness centers use this high-density rubber floor mat usually.

Ordinary-density rubber mats have large granules, rough surface and colors are black, red, green, blue and yellow, etc. They are often used in outdoor playgrounds such as kindergarten, public entertainment places.

Depending on thickness, the rubber mats vary from 15 to 50 mm. The minimum thickness of the high-density rubber floor mat is generally about 20 mm. For gyms 20-30 mm is mostly used, while outdoors is about 15-30 mm.

The rubber floor mat is very simple to install, and it is best to dry it outside before paving because of the rubbery smell. Provided the ground is flat, rubber mats can be paved on solid earth floor, concrete floor or tile floor. In addition, it needs to brush glue on the back of the floor mat before paving on concrete floor; but on the tile floor, colloxylin is enough.

If the thickness is more than 25 mm, the rubber floor mat can be directly paved without adhesive or colloxylin because of its own high weight.
